Run Time: 60 min.

Help us welcome iconic pop weirdo and indie-cult favorite Spookey Ruben with THUNDERCLAP! to Bethel on Friday, September 6th at 7:00 pm.

Spookey Ruben stunned the ‘Alternative’ music scene with his hyper-inventive kaleidoscopic debut album “Modes of Transportation Vol. 1” [©1995 TVT Records] – music critics praising it as the ‘Pet Sounds of the 90s’ – gained lots of airtime on Muchmusic / MTV, followed by a row of successes in Japan and Europe.

A Canadian artist of many hats — Some may remember him from his early days in the progressive thrash band TRANSILIENCE, his off-the-wall art shows, or from his self-directed eye-popping ‘Dizzy Playground’ television series (exclaim!/Aux TV) feat. guest musicians such as Ariel Pink, The Sea and Cake, Feist, Voivod — has been cited as an influence by a panoply of musical visionaries including Owen Pallett (Arcade Fire), Esthero, Chilly Gonzales.
His latest release ‘When Your Heart Says Yes REMIX E.P.’ [Aug 2023] – a collection of remixes by Belectronix, John McEntire, Fresh Kils and Mac DeMarco, just blew past 2M streams on Spotify and he’s now back in the studio working on a new LP scheduled to drop in the Fall of 2024.

Opening for Spookey will be Niagara Falls muti-media performance artist THUNDERCLAP! who uses honesty and his own brand of absurdism to develop an intimate rapport with his audience. His songwriting structure is challenging yet accessible and although the song content is thought-provoking, it boils over with surprise and comedy.

THUNDERCLAP! at 6:00 pm
