Join BAAM at The Gem’s outdoor stage on Wednesday, June 24th at 7:00 PM for a performance by critically acclaimed reggae legends Black Uhuru. We are incredibly lucky to welcome this world-renowned band to Bethel for an unforgettable night of live music!

For over 50 years, Black Uhuru has remained one of Jamaica’s most influential and internationally recognized reggae bands. Founded in Kingston’s Waterhouse district by Derrick “Duckie” Simpson, the group helped define roots reggae with their signature sound—heavy basslines, powerful rhythms, and socially conscious lyrics. Their groundbreaking career includes winning the first-ever Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album in 1984 for Anthem, earning multiple Grammy nominations, and becoming one of reggae’s best-selling and most sampled groups after Bob Marley.

Known for classic albums like Red, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, Sensimelia, and Chill Out, Black Uhuru has spent decades touring the world and evolving their sound while staying true to their roots. Still led by Duckie Simpson, the legendary group continues to bring their iconic reggae sound to audiences across the globe.
