Midnight weekend screenings happen on Friday & Saturday nights (meaning arrive on Friday and/or Saturday night by 11:45pm for seating, the movie starts after midnight)!

Please join us at The Gem for our outdoor Science on Screen event on Saturday, September 19th at 6:30pm. Local mushroom expert, Amanda Moran, will give a presentation at 6:30pm, followed by the widely acclaimed film Fantastic Fungi at 7pm. As a special treat, Amanda will offer a guided mushroom walk at Mahoosuc Land Trust’s Valentine Farm loop at 5pm, prior to the event at The Gem.

5:00pm: Amanda Moran’s guided mushroom walk at MLT’s Valentine Farm

Meet in the parking lot at MLT’s Valentine Farm. This walk is free, but please sign up here. You will be required to wear a mask and social distance while on the walk.

6:30pm: Amanda Moran “Finding Fantastic Fungi”

The Western Maine hills are rich with fungi, most of which we don’t even see. We’ll dip our toes into the world of mycology and learn some fundamentals as well as tips on identification before watching the movie and hearing from the experts.

7:00pm: Fantastic Fungi

Film Synopsis: A descriptive time-lapse journey about the magical, mysterious and medicinal world of fungi and their power to heal, sustain and contribute to the regeneration of life on Earth that began 3.5 billion years ago.

Tickets for this event will be $9 (plus $1 online processing fee) and FREE for students living in the MSAD44 area. Seating will be limited to 50 and tickets MUST be purchased/reserved online. Concessions will be available for sale.
