Join BAAM at The Gem for a special one-night-only screening of Wildwood on Thursday, November 19th at 6:00 pm! This will be your only chance to catch this extraordinary stop-motion animated film on the big screen at The Gem.

Based on the 2011 fantasy novel by Colin Meloy, frontman of The Decemberists, and illustrated by Carson Ellis, Wildwood is a groundbreaking stop-motion animated film from LAIKA Studios. At 2 hours and 12 minutes, it is the longest stop-motion animated film ever made, featuring an astonishing 233 handcrafted puppets, more than 130 unique sets, and 117 distinct locations. Animators used over 142,000 3D-printed facial expressions to bring the characters to life with remarkable detail.

Wildwood is also LAIKA’s first PG-13 film, exploring darker themes and featuring epic battle sequences. Adding to the film’s magic, The Decemberists contributed an original song, “The Better Part of Bravery,” to the soundtrack.

Film Synopsis:

Prue and her classmate Curtis are drawn into a magical forest filled with enchanted creatures, loyal allies, and formidable adversaries as they embark on a desperate quest to rescue Prue’s abducted baby brother from a murder of crows led by a mysterious woman named Alexandra.
